Sifu Katia Marten Herrero

Born in San Jose, Costa Rica, she moved to Canada in 2015 after a life changing experience. She began studying Internal Energy Arts with Grandmaster Emiko Hsuen in 2009.

Sifu Katia trains in the Shaolin arts, taijiquan, kungfu, meditation, energy training, communications and soft skills. Sifu Katia is a certified Springkicks® Instructor, having completed the Level 1 Joy&Freedom-Springkicks Masters Training in 2019.

Sifu Katia is a Costa Rican architect and developer. She is the CEO and founder of KMA Design Group Costa Rica, MAKMA Project Management Costa Rica and also of KMD Development Group Canada. She is the co-founder of two non profit organizations: World Hug Group in Canada, World Hug Foundation in Costa Rica, and Fundacion Gente in Costa Rica, with her daughter Carolina Quiros. She has contributed to many organizations like La Virgen de Los Angeles in Costa Rica, Casa de los Niños in Costa Rica, Little Warriors in Canada, Boost in Canada and Soy Niña in Costa Rica, as well as others.

Sifu Katia has a special connection with nature, which is reflected in her designs. She says that being in nature evokes so much joy from within: her practice, the Costa Rican ocean, and the Canadian lakes are her happy places.

She is grateful to her Sifu for her guidance and teachings on the path of cultivating body, mind and spirit as a whole. Sifu Katia is committed to always doing her best to follow goodness in every action she takes to benefit those around her in all areas of her personal and professional life.
